• Feddon Mechanical LLC was awarded the ABC "Excellence in Construction" Eagle award for our work on the Salvador Dali Museum.

This high profile project is an intregal part of the cultural tourism in St. Petersburg Florida. Former St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker commented: "This extraordinary new museum will be a crown jewel to St. Petersburg's growing cultural renaissance. The building design is an unforgettable work of art." Since opening the first Dali Museum in St. Petersburg in 1982 millions of visitors from around the world have been drawn to a city that had little name recognition among art lovers.

The new $36 million dollar museum is a concrete trapezoid wrapped in an undulating was of glass and steel nicknamed the "Enigma". Its solid structure, with 18 inch thick walls and a 12 inch thick roof can withstand a category 5 hurricane and features amenities including a cafe, theater, classroom, student gallery and library.

Some of the challenges of this project were the limitation of adequate lay down area for on-site material for a job of this size and schedule which required continual deliveries and staging of materials as areas became available for instillation. The  instillation of an underground fuel oil tank and grease trap in close proximity to the water front of Tampa Bay were especially challenging because of the high water table.
